Our advocacy efforts are a cornerstone of ANDVSA’s work, striving to effect change at the systemic level. By engaging in policy and legislative advocacy, we aim to create a safer, more just environment for all Alaskans. Highlights of our statewide initiatives include:

Legislative Education & Lobbying

This includes coordination of the member programs to ensure the voices of victims are represented through testimony and letters of support or opposition.

Statewide Policy Coordination

Started in 2024, we began coordinating statewide efforts to work collaboratively on funding and bills that impact survivors and services.

Pathways to Prevention

Statewide Steering Committee to set statewide strategic direction for Alaska in the area of primary/secondary prevention of domestic and sexual violence.

AK Criminal Justice Data Analysis Commission

We are the organization that appoints the victim services representative to this commission.

Statewide Needs Assessment

We’re conducting a comprehensive needs assessment to identify gaps in services and areas for improvement, guiding our future advocacy and providing information for future strategic planning.

Attorney Program

ANDVSA legal program attorneys provide statewide leadership to improve access to justice for domestic violence victims, as members of the Alaska Bar Association’s Pro Bono Service Committee and Access to Justice section.

SART Statewide Leadership Team

We lead efforts to enhance the effectiveness of Sexual Assault Response Teams (SART) across the state, ensuring that survivors receive compassionate, coordinated care.
