Legal Advocacy Support

Legal Advocacy Support

ANDVSA provides legal support statewide to advocates who are guiding survivors through the civil and criminal justice system. We provide:

  • Technical assistance to domestic violence and sexual assault advocates on issues such as custody, safe visitation, divorce, child support, and protection orders.
  • Webinar trainings for legal advocates and a resource bank of training materials, recorded webinars, handouts and other resources.
  • Regional and statewide trainings for legal advocates and our systemic partners.
  • Resources including our Women’s Legal Rights Handbook, confidentiality protocols, and updates on other critical legal issues.
  • Outreach and on-site training for domestic violence and sexual assault programs in Alaska.
  • Office Hours for Legal Advocates, held bimonthly on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm. This is an opportunity to informally connect with our legal advocate specialist and other advocates to discuss challenges and solutions.

Sexual Assault Response Support

Our support includes:

  • Sexual Assault Advocacy Training
  • Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) development
  • Strangulation Response Training
  • Guidance on best practices for serving survivors.

Capacity Building Support

Capacity Building Support

As part of ANDVSA’s commitment to strengthening Alaska’s network of victim service providers, the Capacity Building Team provides training, technical assistance, consultation, and resource development to ANDVSA member programs. These services are designed to support the organizations, leaders, advocates, and staff working within our statewide membership network.

Through customized training, leadership development, organizational support, and peer learning opportunities, we help member programs build the knowledge, skills, and infrastructure needed to provide sustainable, survivor-centered services. Whether supporting a new advocate, a seasoned leader, a board of directors, or an entire organization, our goal is to strengthen the people and systems that make quality services possible across Alaska.
